Association of Fleet Professionals welcomes 75th new member

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has welcomed fleet driver risk management firm DriveTech as its latest new member this week.

The organisation has gained 75 new members since its launch in March this year.

The AFP was formed by the merger of the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) and the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM). The AFP represents operators running light commercial fleets, vans and cars.

Paul Hollick, AFP chair, said: “Since March, we’ve had over 75 new members come on board who had no links with ACFO or the ICFM and we are very pleased to see that DriveTech is one of them.

“They have an excellent reputation across the fleet sector for their risk management expertise.

“Our intention in forming the AFP was very much to create a forum where the fleet sector could speak with one voice, and many companies want to be part of that project.”

Colin Paterson, head of marketing at DriveTech, said the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which he believes requires greater sector co-operation and collaboration, had been a key factor in the firm’s decision to join AFP.
.
He said: “Becoming a member of the AFP makes absolute sense for DriveTech at this moment in time.

“We pride ourselves on taking a lead position within the fleet driver risk management market and wish to lend our voice to the organisation’s activities.

“By working with other organisations across fleet, we believe that we can more effectively handle the many issues that we, as an industry, are facing at this moment in time.”

Emma Loveday, commercial development manager at DriveTech, is joining the AFP’s risk, compliance and health committee, which is chaired by Martin Evans of Jaama.

Paterson added: “We are keen to not only contribute to the AFP at a member level but to lend our expertise in areas where we have what we believe to be market-leading knowledge, contributing towards important debates on policies and action surrounding occupational travel risk, driver health and wellbeing and corporate compliance. Emma is very much looking forward to becoming involved at a committee level.”
