CM Show 2020: Travel the ‘Road to Zero’ at brand-new industry event

Achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 will be a key focus of next month’s inaugural Commercial Motor Show, held online between 29 September and 1 October.

Despite the disruption of Covid-19, the government has remained clear on the targets set in its Road to Zero strategy, launched 2018, to move away from fossil fuels used in road transport.

Indeed the recent pandemic has given the UK new impetus to revitalise the drive towards cleaner vehicles, secretary of state for transport Grant Shapps MP recently told industry: “We stand on the very verge of a new revolution; a green transport revolution,” he said.

“We can reframe the narrative around green vehicles and show that it is this generation that will drive the transition to zero-carbon road transport.”

But what does the future look like for commercial vehicles?

There a range of options when it comes to cutting carbon emissions from goods vehicles and while electrification seems to be the weapon of choice for final mile and urban deliveries, the jury is still out on whether batteries will be able to power 44-tonners over 400 miles.

Will hydrogen replace natural gas and diesel in the UK’s pipes and filling stations to provide homes and trucks with clean power or will biofuels step up to enable the highly efficient diesel to live on in a zero carbon future?

All these questions will be debated by a panel of leading operators and technology experts throughout the Commercial Motor Show seminar programme.

Sessions will look at choices in fuel, the role of larger trailers in reducing vehicle journeys, clean refrigeration, tyre technology and much more.

The brand-new Commercial Motor Show 2020 promises to bring together all the essentials of a live trade show, without the need for social distancing.

Held online over three days, the free-to-access show will give you access to hundreds of products, industry experts and networking opportunities from the comfort of your keyboard.
