Wind turbine towers measuring 75m high and 49-metre blades have featured in Collett Transport’s most recent transport challenge, as it moves 120 components from Glasgow to the Solwaybank windfarm.
The heavy and abnormal load specialist is delivering the parts from the King George V Dock to the farm 12km north of Gretna in Dumfries and Galloway.

The haulier said it was relying on four axle extendable flat trailers and its specialist Scheuerle clamp trailers, designed specifically for the transport of wind turbine towers, to complete the project.
Its team is also using three Nooteboom Super Wing Carriers to facilitate the movement of the 49m long blades.
