John Dinham Transport swoops for logistics firm hit by pandemic

The business and assets of Lima Logistics have been sold to John Dinham Transport after the Gloucester-based courier company entered administration.

The Pall-Ex member company appointed insolvency experts at Quantuma Advisory on 22
September after it became the latest victim of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lima Logistics, which was formed in 2015, is based on the Churcham business park, but owner John Dinham confirmed to motortransport.co.uk that it had purchased the business and intended to relocate the business by the end of next week.

Dinham said: “We took all the staff and we’re moving the operation from where it is to a more suitable location nearer the motorway.

“We’re a member of Pall-Ex and they asked us if we could have a look at it.

“At the end of the day, it’s economies of scale. We’ll go in and do it a lot cheaper than they were able to operate it for.

“One member of staff has gone and potentially we might make a couple of redundancies, but at the moment it’s a case of cutting the cost out of it as much as we can.”

Dinham added that Lima Logistics joined Pall-Ex shortly before the country entered lockdown and, as a result, it was unable to sell the service or build up the customer base, which led to its administration.

Sue Buchanan, Pall-Ex network director, said: “Lima Logistics joined the Pall-Ex network
at the beginning of April and unfortunately went into administration as a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This has been a very difficult and unpredictable time for many businesses, particularly those in the haulage industry, and our thoughts are with those affected by this outcome.”

She added: “Pall-Ex shareholder member, John Dinham Transport, recognised the value and skills of the management team and purchased the assets and goodwill from administration.

“It will continue to provide services to the same high standards on behalf of Pall-Ex and plans to grow its presence within the area formerly served by Lima Logistics.”
