Hampshire-based Mike Watson Transport (MWT) has implemented a strategic growth strategy in the south of England.
The move has involved the recruitment of seven additional staff and the procurement of seven new vehicles to service a doubling of its network delivery volume, expanding into part of the PO (Portsmouth) postcode area.
MWT was established over 30 years ago and has strengthened its position in the transport sector since being acquired by the Palletline Group in September 2016.
The business plans to expand into larger premises later this year, which it said would open up opportunities for additional revenue streams.
Palletline Logistics MD Paul Elson said: “This year has been challenging for the whole economy. We felt it was important to manage this opportunity effectively and deliver the highest levels of service to the network. Palletline Logistics has emerged as a major contributor to the UK logistics sector in its own right. It is an exciting time for MWT and now we are looking towards continued growth.”
Added Palletline group MD Graham Leitch: “MWT has a firm history in the area as a quality local and national operator with traditional values in service and cooperation. This strategic expansion strengthens our position locally and we are looking forward to providing existing and new customers an enhanced level of service.”
